Donald James Stringer

Donald James Stringer, age 53, of Kings Mountain, passed away Monday, February 20, 2017 at UK Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.  Born Sunday, April 7, 1963 in Stanford, he was the son of Kay Stull Gordon of Kings Mountain and the late James Stringer.  Donald was a maintenance worker at East Anderson Hardwood for over 28 years. He also has been the caregiver of Gooch Cemetery in Kings Mountain since 1990.  Donald enjoyed hunting, fishing, UK basketball, spending time with his family and grandchildren, and loved the outdoors.

Donald leaves behind one son, James Robert Stringer (Heather Burdine) of Science Hill; one daughter, Samantha Jo Love (Justin) of Moreland; one brother, Terry Wayne Stringer of Kings Mountain, one half-brother, James Henley Stringer, Jr. of Eubank; his step-dad, George Gordon, Jr. (Kay Gordon) of Kings Mountain; three grandchildren, Landon Donald Love, Madison Rose Stringer, and due this May, Kaydence Elizabeth Love; one step-son, Daniel Lewis Young of Eubank; two step-daughters, Laura Zizelman (Robert) of Ohio, and Erika Smith of Lexington; his girlfriend, Jenny Curry; and five step-grandchildren.

A Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Friday, February 24, 2017 at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home with Bro. David Gambrel officiating the service.  Burial will follow in Gooch Cemetery.  Donnie Reynolds, Bobby Stringer, Timmy Bell, Jimmy Bowen, Michael Turner, and Jerry “Sam” Davis will serve as Active Pallbearers. Ike Jones, Roger Caudill, Scotty Jones, Terry Jones, Trampus Gifford, Charles Reynolds, and Junior Rayborn will serve as Honorary Pallbearers. 

The Visitation will be held 5-8PM Thursday, February 23, 2017 at the funeral home.
