William "Bill" "Peanut" Ellis Brown

William “Bill” “Peanut” Ellis Brown, son of the late George & Othello Parrish Brown, was born Thursday, September 24, 1931 in Stanford, Kentucky.  He completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, September 7, 2016.

Bill served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict era.  He worked in the Parts Department at American Greetings, for more than 30 years. 

It was 52 years ago that Wilma Helm & William Ellis Brown were united in marriage.  To this blessed union, one son was born.  Bill was a member of Bethel AME Church in Boneyville.  Bill also was a former member of the Doric #18 Masonic Lodge in Danville.  In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, was talented at building things and fixing things that were broken, and loved antiquing. 

Bill leaves to cherish his memory:  his loving wife, Wilma Helm Brown of Stanford; one son, James E. Brown of Stanford; one brother, David Brown and his wife, Diane of Iowa; one sister, Shirley Harper of Lancaster; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Brown of Port Royal, South Carolina; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives who mourn his passing.

Family members who had gone on before him include:  his parents, George & Othello Brown; one brother, George “June” Brown II; and three sisters, Beverly Byrd, Dora Holiday, and Betty Ann Brown.

A Public Memorial Service will be held 1:00PM Monday, September 12, 2016 at Bethel AME Church, 755 Spoonamore Lane, Stanford, KY 40484.  Rev. Reginald Pullums will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in Barrows Cemetery in Stanford.  Clarence Gooch, James Black, Glenn Gooch, and Dennis Custard will serve as Active Pallbearers.  Calvin Denham, Don Ellis, Eugene Jones, Albert Gooch, Harold Dunn, George Reed, and Robert Coulter will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

The Visitation will be held 12Noon-1PM Monday at the church.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Clarence & Sue Gooch, Maurice & Bridgett Harris, Rev. Tony Gooch and his wife Mary, Nadine Stanley, and Benita Custard, Rev. Reginald Pullums, Brenda Logan-Cofer, Shelia Logan-Benjamin, and Willie Mae McBeath for their love and support shown to them during Bill’s illness.
