Betty L. (Cason) Gooch, age 90, formerly of Stanford, Kentucky, died peacefully at the home of her daughter, B.J. Gooch, in Lexington, on Tuesday, February 13, 2018. Born Monday, December 26, 1927 in Covington, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Frank Cason & the late Nola Hasty Cason Reynolds. Betty was the widow of the late Sam T. Gooch, who preceded her in death March 28, 1978. Betty was best known for her work at Fort Logan Hospital, in Stanford, where she worked 34 years as a CNA. Betty was a member of Stanford Baptist Church, loved to cook and give baked goods to her friends and neighbors, and loved to garden.
In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by two brothers, James F. Cason and Carl Cason; and one sister, Judy Reynolds Houp.
Betty’s survivors include one daughter Betty Jean “BJ” Gooch (William O. “Bill” Smith) of Lexington; one son, Sammy T. Gooch (Draxie Disney) of Charlotte, North Carolina; one granddaughter, Sara Tyler (Greg) of Mt. Holly, North Carolina; one great-grandson, Samuel Benjamin “Sammy” Tyler; one great-granddaughter, Lillian Bennett “Lilly” Tyler; one step-grandson, Ben Smith (Amanda Verrill) of Lexington; and one step great-granddaughter, Willa Verrill; one brother, Roy Reynolds, Jr. of Lancaster; and one sister, Jessie Wall of Kings Mountain.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Fox & Friend Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Wright officiating the service. Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.
The Visitation will be held 10AM-11AM Saturday at the funeral home.
