Hershel Ray Penman

Hershel Ray Penman, age 68, of Hickory Lane in Danville, Kentucky, passed away Friday, December 14, 2018 at Baptist Health-Lexington.  Born Monday, September 18, 1950 in Stanford, Kentucky, he was the son of the late David & Josephine Coulter Penman.  His loving wife, whom he married May 11, 2001, is Teresa Spears Penman of Danville.  Hershel worked as a butcher for many years and was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Stanford.  Hershel enjoyed drawing, fishing, making birthday cards, cooking, gardening, walking, and was a good handyman around the house.

In addition to his wife, Hershel leaves behind 12 children, Sheila Walker of Danville, Shawn Woodyard of Lebanon, Kentucky, Renata Penman of Nicholasville, Kentucky, Jenie Spears of Danville, Tonya Penman of Danville, Jane Allen of Stanford, Desria Horn (Kevin) of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Dominick Penman (Tashia Knox) of Moreland, Kentucky, Joy Floyd of Danville, Elisha Spears of Stanford, Gregory Spears (Leslie) of Lebanon, and Carey Henry of Danville; 32 grandchildren; and two brothers, George Penman (Vicci) of Stanford, and Mitchell Penman (Heather) of Palm Coast, Florida; and several nieces, nephews and other family and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Hershel was preceded in death by two brothers, David Penman and James Penman; and eight sisters, Wilma Penman, Joyce Penman, Geraldine Penman, Wanda Penman, Ernestine Penman, Anna Bright, Marsha Henderson, and Virginia Neal.

A Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM Friday, December 21, 2018 at Fox & Friend Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Coulter, Pastor Floyd Raglin, and Elder Jerry Wilkinson officiating the service.  Burial will follow in Danville Memorial Gardens.  Frankie Neal, Shayne Penman, Ikia Walker, Tres Walker, Haden Young, Jarrett Long, Gregory Spears, and Marqueese Walker will serve as Active Pallbearers.  Rene Spears, Tonya Penman, Elisha Spears, Joy Floyd, Sheila Penman Walker, Renata Penman, Starr Allen, Desria Horn, Dominick Penman, and Carey Henry will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.

The Visitation will be held 5-8PM Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the funeral home.
