Rebexie Caudill Benton, age 90, of KY Hwy 1247 in Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky. Born Monday, August 7, 1929 in the Blackey Community of Letcher County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late George Matthew & Dora Alice Fields Caudill. Rebexie was the widow of Earl R. Benton, whom she married Saturday, January 29, 1949, and preceded her in death Thursday, November 27, 2014. Rebexie was a school teacher for 35 plus years, teaching at various places over the years. She was of the Baptist faith, member of the Kentucky Retired Teachers Association, and a member of the Waynesburg #501 Order of the Eastern Star. In her spare time, Rebexie enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, quilting, gardening, and traveling.
Rebexie leaves behind three children, Teresa Sharon Bingham (Jim) of Indianapolis, Indiana, Marvin Eugene Benton (Deloris) of Middletown, Ohio, and Kathryn Brown of Waynesburg; 7 grandchildren, Donnie Benton, Charlie Benton, Bobby Benton (Tonya), Richard Benton (Stephanie), Mary Friend (John David), Kendra Sanders (Brandon), and Tommy Engle (Rebekah); 13 great-grandchildren with one great-grandchild due in May 2020; and one sister, Helen Irene Bishop of Keystone Heights, Florida.
In addition to her husband and parents, Rebexie was preceded in death by one son, Jesse Clark Benton; one daughter-in-law, Bobbie Sue Demrow Benton; four brothers, John Caudill, Reuben Caudill, James Caudill, and Beckham Caudill; and three sisters, Julia Powers, Frances Alta Stamper, and Anna Eldridge.
A Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home with Bro. David Gambrel officiating the service. Burial will follow in Leach Cemetery on Rocky Hollow Road in Waynesburg. Marvin Benton, Jim Bingham, Tommy Engle, Bobby Benton, Richard Benton, Brandon Sanders, John David Friend, and Lonnie Brown will serve as Active Pallbearers. Rebexie’s remaining grandchildren and great-grandchildren will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
The Visitation will be held 5-8PM Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at the funeral home. An Order of Eastern Star Service will begin at 7:30PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
