Shirley Grant Tackett

Shirley Grant Tackett, age 81, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky.  Born March 12, 1938 in McDowell, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Jim & Lillie Mae Newsome Tackett.  Grant was the Moderator at Little Pilgrims Rock Old Regular Baptist Church in Waynesburg.  Grant enjoyed UK Basketball, gardening, cooking.  He will be remembered for being an excellent husband, dad, and papaw.

Grant was preceded in death by his wife, Winona Newsome Tackett; his children, Brenda Lou Tackett, Tommy Tackett, and David Tackett.

Grant leaves behind his wife, Joan Tackett of Waynesburg; children, Kathy Owens of Danville, Kentucky, Joe Tackett (Lisa) of Stanford, Kentucky, and Shirley Hamilton of Lancaster, Kentucky; 10 grandchildren, Winona, Jason, Joe Jr., Shaun, Misty, Chris, Timmy Jr., Michael, Michelle, and Jordan; and 13 great-grandchildren, Brandon Jr., Shanona, Jacy, Brayden, Kymmeri, Bialise, Nicole, Nevaeh, Heaven, Abbey, Harper, William, and Willow.

A First Day Visitation and service will be held 5-6PM Thursday, May 23, 2019 with a Service from 6-8PM at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home.

A Second Day Visitation will be held 5-6PM Friday, May 24, 2019 with a Service from 6-8PM at the funeral home.

A Third Day Visitation will be held 9AM-1PM Saturday, May 25, 2019 with a Funeral Service beginning at 1:00PM at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery.  Joe Tackett, Joe Tackett, Jr., Shaun Tackett, Chris Tackett, Timmy Hamilton, and Jordan Tackett will serve as Active Pallbearers.

Charles Hamilton, Eddie Slone, Larry Newsome, and Ralph Slone, Jr. will officiate the three services.
