Virgil “Crowbar” Siler, Jr., age 82, a resident of Highlands Nursing Home and Rehab Center in Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Audubon Norton Hospital in Louisville. Born Friday, January 18, 1935 in Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Virgil Siler, Sr. and the late Bertha Durham Siler Cain. Virgil worked as a mechanic and loved to fish. He was a member of the Church of Christ on Shelby Street in Louisville. For the last 35 years of his life, after moving to Louisville, he remained sober and was very active in various AA groups, in which he helped many others who were fighting the addiction.
Virgil leaves behind several extended family members; and many close friends in Louisville.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his step-father, Dan Cain; two brothers, Chester & Howard Siler; and three sisters, Ella Mae Siler Holtzclaw, Elizabeth Siler Messer, and Phyllis Jean Siler Johnson.
A Funeral Service will be held 1PM Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at Fox & Friend Funeral Home, 312 West Main Street, Stanford, KY 40484, with Bro. Kerry Jones officiating the service. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Mark Stallard, Allen Johns, Don Siebert, and Charlie Sweazy will serve as Active Pallbearers.
The Visitation will be held 12Noon, until service time, Wednesday at the funeral home.
