Walter Elmer "Buddy" Smith

Walter Elmer “Buddy” Smith, age 77, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Fountain Care & Rehab in Winchester, Kentucky.  Born Friday, February 27, 1942 in Indianapolis, Indiana, he was the son of the late Wayne & Helena Parker Smith.  Buddy lived most of his life in Lincoln County, Kentucky.

Buddy also lived in Puerto Rico for approximately 10 years, where he married Beatrice Martinez.  Together, they had one son, Walter Marvin Smith currently of Lexington, Kentucky. 

Later on, Buddy married Martha Hendrickson (deceased).  Together, they had one son, Waldon (Kellie) Smith currently of Richmond, Kentucky. 

Other survivors include four grandchildren, Weston, Kaelyn, Emma, and Willow; one step-daughter, Jennifer (Chad) Lanham of Perryville, Kentucky; three step-grandchildren, Zak, Kacey, and Kaden; one brother, Marvin (Willie) Smith of Stanford, Kentucky; three sisters, Iva (Bev) Young of Stanford, and Ida (Roger) Adams and Ina (Dennis) Glass both of Waynesburg, Kentucky; and a large number of extended family and friends who mourn his passing.

Buddy was a US Navy Veteran, who served 1963-1966.  Buddy was an adjutant of the Stanford American Legion Post #345, where he organized several community events, including an annual charity horse show.  Buddy was also a member of Highland United Methodist Church. 

Cremation Rites have been honored.  A Public Visitation will be held 5-7PM Thursday, May 30, 2019 at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home.  A Memorial Service will begin at 7:00PM Thursday at the funeral home.  Bro. Vola Brown will officiate the service.  Following the Memorial Service, Full Military Honors will be performed by the Caswell-Saufley Post #18 of the American Legion.
