Betty Marie Ware

Betty Marie Ware, 84, of the Walltown community in Casey County, Kentucky, passed away peacefully Thursday, May 21, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Betty was born at home on Brown Ridge in Casey County Thursday, September 4, 1941, to the late Harvey and Evie Black Bastin.  Betty was the widow of Gary Lee Ware, whom she married Saturday, August 28, 1965, and preceded her in death Wednesday, September 5, 2012.  Betty was a retired school teacher, who previously taught at Waynesburg, Kings Mountain, and Garrett Elementary Schools.  Betty was a faithful member of Mount Olive Christian Church and a member of the Casey County Homemakers.  Betty loved the outdoors, her flower gardens, and swimming pool.  Betty’s love for God and family will carry on her legacy for many generations to come. 

Betty leaves behind one son, Brent Ware (Lisa) of Walltown; two granddaughters, Allison Thompson (Wesley) and Ashley Ware both of Walltown; one great-granddaughter, Maggie Jo Thompson of Walltown; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law by marriage, Theresa Gail Ware of Walltown; and a special caregiver and friend, Tricia Sheene of Yosemite, Kentucky.

In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by two brothers, Darrell Bastin and Dee Ray Bastin; one sister, Faye Sims; in-laws, JC and Edna Ware; and a brother-in-law, Larry Ware.

Public Visitations will be held 5-8PM Saturday, May 23, 2026, and 12-2PM Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home. 

A Public Funeral Service will be held 2 PM Sunday May 24, 2026, at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Betty’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.  Bro. Greg Powell will officiate the service.

Burial will follow at Salyers Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Casey Phillippe, Ryan Dunham, Brandon Dunham, Junior Sims, Andrew Weddle, Billy Duncan, Josh Patterson and Wesley Thompson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Tommy Weddle, Jimmy Phillippe and Robert Dunham.

In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Salyers Cemetery Fund, 1914 N Hwy 837, Yosemite, KY 42566.
