George Gordon, Jr., age 82, of Old South Fork Road in Kings Mountain, Kentucky, passed away Friday, September 10, 2021, in Stanford, Kentucky. Born Wednesday, November 16, 1938, in Estill County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late George Taylor and Clessie Estes Gordon. He was the widower of Kay Stull Gordon whom he married May 28, 1977, and preceded him in death on November 23, 2017. George was a U.S. National Guard Veteran. He ran Gordon’s Flea Market for over 50 years and was the owner of Gordon’s Construction Company. George worked as a custodial supervisor in the Lincoln County School system. He enjoyed talking with people at the flea market.
George leaves behind five daughters, Jennetta Curry of Kings Mountain, Sylvia Hammock of Arcadia, Indiana, Sherri Gordon, Tammy Heiser and Theresa Wendling (Andy) all of Indiana; 18 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, George was preceded in death by two sons, Albert Gordon, and Mark Owens; one brother, Samuel Gordon; and three sisters, Nadine Love, Bernice Moorefield, and Rebecca Wallace.
A Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM on Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home with Bro. David Gambrel officiating the service. Burial will follow in Gooch Cemetery. Joe Williams, Daniel Young, Bob Zizelman, Jacob Zizelman, Justin Love, James Stringer and Charlie Snow will serve as Active Pallbearers.
A Public Visitation will be held 6-8PM Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at the funeral home.
