Jackie Coontz, age 84, of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away Friday, October 28, 2022, at his home with his loved ones by his side. Born Friday, September 16, 1938, in the Geneva community of Lincoln County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Roscoe & Mildred Young Coontz. His loving wife, whom he married Sunday, February 9, 2003, is Barbara Wesley Coontz of Stanford. Jackie was a US Navy Veteran, who actively served his country July 17, 1956-September 15, 1959. Jackie retired, after 40-plus years of work, as a Field Superintendent from Southern Pan Services in Atlanta, Georgia. Jackie was a member of Green River Pentecostal Church, and enjoyed playing lead guitar, shooting pool, mowing his lawn, and rabbit and deer hunting.
Jackie leaves behind one daughter, Tisha Russell (Mark) of Hustonville, Kentucky; six sons, Dwight Coontz (Patty), Scott Holloway (Rhonda), Chris Hogue (Janie), Craig Hogue (Lovette), and Clifford Hogue all of Stanford, and Michael Saunders of Acworth, Georgia; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jo Ann Smith (Johnny) of Lancaster, Kentucky, and Mazie Long (Wendell) of Stanford; and numerous extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, Jackie was preceded in death by one son, Jamie Mac Coontz; and two brothers, Billy Coontz and Johnny Mac Coontz.
A Public Visitation will be held 5-8PM Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at Fox & Friend Funeral Home.
The Public Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the funeral home. Bro. Rick Naylor & Sis. Jessie Riley will officiate the service.
Burial, with Full Military Honors, will follow in Buffalo Springs Cemetery. Logan Russell, Ethan Russell, Keith Long, John Smith, Jordan Hogue, Chad Courtney, Bryce Bailey, and T.J. Wilcher will serve as Active Pallbearers. Ryan Wethington, Jim Bussell, Woody Taylor, Gene Vanhook, and Ricky King will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
