Keith Bastin, age 80, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, January 29, 2022, in Louisville. Born Tuesday, March 11, 1941, in the Mt. Olive Community, in Casey County, Kentucky, he was the son to the late Henry and Gletha Cooper Bastin. Keith leaves behind his loving wife, Carol Peek Bastin of Louisville, whom he married Wednesday, December 2, 1970. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired from Oakwood after 23 years. Keith was a member of Eubank Church of Christ. He enjoyed playing rook, fishing, was a UK basketball fan, and an LA Dodgers fan. Keith was a big jokester and loved to aggravate.
In addition to his wife, Keith leaves behind one son, Loyd Dale Bastin (Alison Glaser) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; one daughter, Kimberly Ann New (Rodney) of Louisville; two granddaughters, Kyra Demi New and Abigail Paige New, both of Louisville; three sisters, Leona Bentley of Eubank, Kentucky, Louetta McAninch (Elvin) of Yosemite, Kentucky, and Lela Stith (David) of Danville, Kentucky; two brothers-in-law, David Peek (Jayne) and Steven Peek (Lisa), both of Kings Mountain, Kentucky; two sisters-in-law, Connie Horn (Robert) of Waynesburg, Kentucky, and Francis Bastin of Smithfield, Kentucky; and many nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, Keith was preceded in death by four brother, Lewis, Earl, and Arnold Bastin, and Lealus Sims (Anna); two sisters, Lois Williams (Tom) and Lucy Smith (Bob); mother and father-in-law, John, and Mayme Peek; three brothers-in-law; Herbert Todd, William Bentley, and Jack McWhorter.
A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at Barnett, Demrow, and Friend Funeral Home.
The Public Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Wednesday, February 2, 2022, at the funeral home. Bro. Ferlin Price and Bro. Dale Robbins will officiate the service. The Funeral Service will be live streamed on Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home’s Facebook page.
Burial will follow in Salyers Cemetery. Herbie Todd, Scott Horn, Robert Horn, Michael Smith, Janis Smith, Steven Peek, Steven Eubank, and Roger Gossett will serve as Active Pallbearers. Bernal Buis, David Peek, Elvin McAninch, David Stith, and Roger Ruckel will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
