Lois Maxine Gerkey Cave

Lois Maxine Gerkey Cave, age 85, of the Highland Community in Lincoln County, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky.  Born Saturday, January 13, 1934 in Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Roy Eugene & Lola Wells Gerkey.  She was the widow of the late John Chalmers Cave.  Lois was a homemaker, and worked at various jobs throughout her life, including waitressing, jail employee, sheriff’s department employee, just to name a few.  Lois previously attended Mt. Moriah Christian Church and most recently attended Stanford Church of Christ.  Lois was a part of various singing groups throughout her life, was an animal lover, and enjoyed playing cards, gardening and traveling in her spare time.

Lois leaves behind one son, Kenneth John Christopher Cave of the Highland community; one daughter, Clara Anne Gower of Lexington, Kentucky; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Wilma Thornberry of Indianapolis, Indiana; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her husband and parents, Lois was preceded in death by four brothers, Donald Gerkey, Ovid Curtis Gerkey, Glenn Odell Gerkey, and Carroll Eugene Gerkey; and four sisters, Alma Wheeler, Thelma Harper, Louise Rinehart, and Hazel Spiers.

Cremation Rites have been honored.  A Public Memorial Service will be held 3:00PM Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Fox & Friend Funeral Home with Bro. Johnny Thompson officiating the service.

A Public Visitation will be held 1-3PM Saturday at the funeral home.
