Raymond Eugene “Gene” Boyd, age 82, of Stanford, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home Friday, March 22, 2024, surrounded by his loved ones. Born Thursday, April 17, 1941, in Garrard County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Bryan & Vernie Lee Young Boyd. His loving wife, whom he married Saturday, November 19, 1960, is Nancy Lee Crawford Boyd of Stanford. Gene worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator. Also, for over 20 years, he owned and operated Gene’s Mower Shoppe, where he sold Country Clipper Mowers. During his business ownership, Gene received numerous awards for top lawnmower sales. Gene was a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to his wife, Gene leaves behind one son, Todd Boyd of Stanford; one daughter, Tanya Boyd Gehlhausen of Harrodsburg, Kentucky; six grandchildren, Shane Boyd (Patricia) of Hustonville, Kentucky, Rachel Boyd (Clay Lanham) of Lebanon, Kentucky, Dawson Gehlhausen of Harrodsburg, Brian Boyd of Florida, Shawn Boyd (Beth) of Lancaster, Kentucky, and Christopher Boyd of Lancaster; eight great-grandchildren, Triston Boyd, Allison Boyd, Rhett Lanham, Patrick Boyd, Emily Boyd, Chloe Boyd Shrader, Hailey Hatchman, and Brian Boyd; two sisters, Virginia Brown of Stanford and Doris Day of Stanford; one brother, Ronald Boyd of Danville; and several other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by one son, Patrick Boyd; two brothers, Ralph Boyd and Kenneth Boyd; and three sisters, Frances Wine, Opal Whitis, and Christine Wadella.
A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Monday, March 25, 2024, at Calvary Hill Baptist Church.
A Public Funeral Service will be held 1:00PM Monday, at the church. Bro. Charlie Lynn and Shane Boyd will officiate the service. The Funeral Service will be livestreamed on Gene’s memorial page of the funeral home’s website.
Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery in Danville, Kentucky. Triston Boyd, Carl Boyd, Dawson Gehlhausen, Clay Lanham, Butch Wine, and Forest Stevens will serve as Active Pallbearers.
