Rebecca Jean Hancock, age 61, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, April 15, 2021 at her home. Born Tuesday, September 15, 1959 in Somerset, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Ronald Guy, Sr. and the late Peggy Smiley Guy. Rebecca was the widow of the late Gregory Hancock, whom she married Tuesday, November 28, 1978, and preceded her in death Saturday, February 17, 2001. Rebecca worked as a cook at Somerview Nursing Home and was a member of Pleasant Point Baptist Church. Rebecca loved to cook, sing in her church, read, sew, and watch movies. She loved her fur babies and her two boys.
Rebecca leaves behind two sons, Kevin Gregory Hancock of Somerset, Kentucky and Alexander Scott Hancock of Waynesburg; two sisters, Deborah Goforth (Mickey) and Krystal McCurdy-Kisselburgh (Jason) of Colorado; one brother, Ronald Guy, Jr. (Michell) of Springfield, Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members and friends who mourn her passing.
In addition to her husband and parents, Rebecca was preceded in death by one son, Christopher Ryan Hancock; and one brother, Gordon David Guy.
A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-1PM Tuesday, April 20, 2021 at Pleasant Point Baptist Church.
The Public Funeral Service will begin at 1:00PM Tuesday at the church. Bro. Ed Bray will officiate the service. Burial will follow in Goochtown Church of Christ Cemetery in Eubank, Kentucky. Billy Robinson, Dusten Goforth, Alex Hancock, J.R. Robinson, Preston Rainwater, and Logan Adams will serve as Active Pallbearers.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to COVID -19 regulations, face coverings must be worn by all in attendance for the Public Visitation and the Funeral Service; and social distancing guidelines must be followed.
