Rev. Lewis M. Walter Obituary

Rev. Lewis M. Walter, age 85, of Harrodsburg, KY, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 9, 2022, at his home.  Born Wednesday, August 4, 1937, in Hamilton County, OH, he was the son of the late Gabriel “Gabe” & Sarah E. Hargis Walter.  His loving wife, of over 60 years, is Patsy “Pat” Speaks Walter of Harrodsburg.  Lewis was a graduate of the Old Lancaster High School in Lancaster, KY, and Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in Pineville, KY.  Lewis was a US Air Force & US Navy Veteran.  Lewis was also the former co-owner of Walter’s Grocery & Bus Station in Stanford, KY.

Rev. Walter served the Lord as pastor of Liberty (Buckeye) Baptist Church in Buckeye, KY; Geneva Baptist Church, McKinney, KY; Freedom Baptist Church, Mt. Vernon, KY; Calvary Baptist Church, Betsy Lane, KY; Pioneer Baptist Church, Harrodsburg, KY; and Associate Pastor at Willow Grove Baptist Church, Danville, KY.  Rev. Walter also served the Lord as Interim Pastor of several churches in Danville, KY, Stanford, KY, Harrodsburg, KY, and New Salem, KY.  Rev. Walter loved fishing for both fish and men, enjoyed time afield in pursuit of the beauty of nature and all kinds of fish and game; with Bob White Quail being his favorite.  Lewis never met a dog he didn’t like and said he loved puppy breath.  Most of all, Lewis loved all the adventures he and Pat, the love of his life, shared together in their portion of life’s journey.

In addition to his wife, Lewis leaves behind several nieces and nephews and other extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.

In addition to his parents, Lewis was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine Flynn and Eunice Schneider.
