Robert Wilson

Robert Wilson, age 84, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021, in Waynesburg. Born Monday, December 7, 1936, in Brodhead, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Callaway and Mattie Niday Wilson. His loving wife, whom he married on Saturday, July 14, 1956, is Shirley Irene Wilson of Waynesburg. Robert was a member of Journey Community Church. He was a land developer and enjoyed being outside and spending time on the farm. Robert loved his family and spending time with them. He served as a deacon and board member for several churches, and thoroughly enjoyed talking with people as a church greeter. Robert was involved in planting four churches and was a leader in building the actual buildings. He and Shirley dedicated their lives to serving the Lord.

In addition to his wife, Robert leaves behind one son, Danny Wilson (Judie) of Waynesburg; three daughters, Marilyn Taylor (BJ) of Martinsburg, West Virginia, Anna Ruckel (Jeff) of Waynesburg, and Tina Goode (Gene) of Lancaster, Kentucky; 11 grandchildren, Brandon Wilson, Renee Wilson, Jessica Amsler, Spencer Taylor, Blake Ruckel, Landon Ruckel, Brent Ruckel, Austin Anderson, Logan Anderson, Brooklyn Dollar, and Becca Blackford; 20 great grandchildren, Taryn Penman, Ayden Hafley, Kelvin Wilson, McKenzie Tyner, Averie Amsler, Cade Amsler, Elle Taylor, Thomas Taylor, Kinlee Ruckel, Jaycee Ruckel, Brody Ruckel, Ellie Ruckel, Parker Ruckel, Westin Ruckel, Rylee Ruckel, Clayton Ruckel, Lucy Anderson, Eli Anderson, Mila Anderson, and Luka Dollar; and one brother, Billy Wilson of Crab Orchard, Kentucky.

In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by six brothers, James Wilson, Dallas Wilson, Earl Wilson, Denver Wilson, Charles Wilson, and Elbert Wilson; and four sisters; Lucille Adams, Irene Wilkinson, Bertha Hendrickson, and Blondell Saylor.

A Public Funeral Service will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at Journey Community Church. BJ Taylor will be officiating the service.  The Funeral Service will be live streamed on Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home's Facebook page.

Burial will follow in Piney Grove Cemetery-Brodhead, Kentucky . Robert’s grandsons will serve as Active Pallbearers.

A Public Visitation will be held 12-2PM Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the church.
