Ronald H. McWhorter, age 90, a resident of the New Salem Community of Lincoln County, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky, surrounded by his family. Born Wednesday, December 2, 1931, in the New Salem Community, he was the son of the late Jettie Tellious & Alma Austin McWhorter. Ronald was the widower of the late Bonnie Rose Watkins McWhorter, whom he married Saturday, July 2, 1955, and preceded him in death Saturday, February 24, 2018. Ronald was a US Army veteran, who served during the Korean Conflict, and earned the rank of Corporal. Ronald worked, for 40 years, at Cowden’s Manufacturing in Lancaster, Kentucky. Ronald was a member of Green River Pentecostal Church, was a Kentucky Colonel, and enjoyed knife trading.
Ronald leaves behind two sons, Ronnie Kim McWhorter (Sharon) of the New Salem Community, and Larry Keith McWhorter (Karen) of Waynesburg, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Kevin McWhorter (Heather) of the New Salem Community, Jonathan McWhorter (Kristen) of the Geneva Community of Lincoln County, Kentucky, Missy McWilliams (Ryan) of Eubank, Kentucky, and Korey McWhorter of Stanford, Kentucky; three great-grandchildren, Shelby Lynn McWilliams of Eubank, Maverick Kreed McWhorter of Waynesburg, and Gavin Reed McWilliams of Eubank; one brother, Earl Dean McWhorter of the New Salem Community; three sisters, Bonnie D. Ray of Lancaster, Donna May VonLinger of Moreland, Kentucky, and Barbara Walls (Bill) of Stanford; and several extended family members and friends who mourn his passing.
In addition to his wife and parents, Ronald was preceded in death by one brother, Jack McWhorter; and one infant sister, Anna Lee McWhorter.
A Public Visitation will be held 11AM-2PM Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Green River Pentecostal Church.
The Public Funeral service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, at the church. Bro. Rick Naylor and Bro. Greg Lockard officiating the service. The Funeral Service will be live streamed on Green River Pentecostal & Fox & Friend Funeral Home’s Facebook pages.
Burial, with full military honors, will be in New Salem Cemetery. Kevin McWhorter, Jonathan McWhorter, Korey McWhorter, Ryan McWilliams, Jeff McWhorter, and Gary Noel will serve as Active Pallbearers. Missy McWilliams, Heather McWhorter, Kristen McWhorter, and Tiffany Taylor will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
PLEASE NOTE: PER FAMILY REQUEST, ANYONE WHO ATTENDS THE VISITATION OR FUNERAL SERVICE FOR RONALD WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK OR FACIAL COVERING.
