Zora Sluder, Jr.

Zora Sluder, Jr., age 95, of Waynesburg, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, July 15, 2021, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville, Kentucky.  Born Thursday, April 8, 1926, in Kings Mountain, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Zora Sluder, Sr. & the late Vada Gooch Sluder.  Zora was the widower of the late Virginia Padgett Sluder, whom he married Tuesday, June 15, 1943, and preceded him in death Monday, May 28, 1990.  Zora was a construction worker, and was well-known for his ability in construction, masonry, and brick work.  Zora was a big Cincinnati Reds fan and enjoyed watching wrestling and NASCAR.

 Zora leaves behind one son, Michael Sluder (Jenny) of Stanford, Kentucky; three daughters, Beverly Sluder of Cincinnati, Ohio, Joi Lynne Cook of Danville, Kentucky, and Cindy Gayle Surber (James) of Stanford; 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great grandchildren; one sister, Serena May of Chandler, Arizona; and numerous other family members and friends who mourn his passing. 

In addition to his wife and parents, Zora was preceded in death by one son, Marshall Sluder, Sr.; and one sister, Mardenia Godbey. 

A Public Visitation will be held 12PM-1PM Monday, July 19, 2021, at Barnett, Demrow & Friend Funeral Home. 

The Public Funeral Service will begin at 1:00PM Monday at the funeral home.  Bro. Walter Bowling will officiate the service.  Burial will follow in Olive Cemetery.  Jason Sluder, Marshall Sluder, Jr., Billy Burchfield, Craig Padgett, James Surber, and Ethan Woodall will serve as Active Pallbearers.
